Trivia:
Although Candlestick Park was built for the Giants, the Beatles
played their last concert ever there on August 29, 1966, and the
NFLs 49ers have won so many Super Bowls since they moved
there in 1971 that the sign in the parking lot said, "Home
of the Super Bowl Champions," with almost no mention of the
primary tenants.
San Francisco sold the naming rights to 3Com Corporation in 1995
and Candlestick became 3Com Park.
3Com Park was enlarged and fully enclosed in the winter of 1971-1972
to house the NFL 49ers.
Pre-game tip: In the last two hours before a game, it is
quicker to use the Third Street exit from the 101 freeway instead
of the 3Com Park exit. Go north on Third Street. If you have a
pre-paid parking pass, turn right on Gilman Avenue. If you do
not have a pre-paid parking pass, turn right on Carroll Avenue
and use the dirt parking lots.
